2 roti aur dal, thodi sabzi bhi 🍛
🍛 Dal, 2 roti & sabzi
🔥 410 kcal  ·  🥩 16g protein
📊 Today: 1,240/1,800 kcal
Solid lunch — dal is carrying your protein today. A bowl of curd tonight closes the gap nicely.

That’s the whole product. No forms, no barcode scanner, no app.

How it works

  1. 1

    Send your food

A photo of your plate, a voice note, or just “2 roti aur dal” — whatever is easiest mid-meal.

  2. 2

    Get your macros

Calories, protein, carbs, fat and fibre in seconds — with portions understood the Indian way: katori, roti, bowl.

  3. 3

    See your day add up

A running total against your target, a nightly recap, and water reminders that actually repeat.

“Can’t I just use ChatGPT? Or a diet app?”

You can — that’s how Firni started. ChatGPT can talk about food, but it doesn’t keep anything: no running total, no memory of your targets, no reminder at lunch. Diet apps keep everything but make you do the typing. Firni keeps the ledger and takes the message.

Why I built this

I didn’t set out to build a product. I was trying to get in shape and drowning in tools — one app counting calories, another tracking water, ChatGPT open in a third tab for questions. ChatGPT could talk about food, but it couldn’t keep anything: no running total, no memory of my targets, no idea what a katori is. And every tracker app wanted me to search a database and fill a form, mid-meal, every meal.

Meanwhile there’s one app I open a thousand times a day without thinking: WhatsApp. So I built my nutritionist inside it. Texting “2 roti aur dal” to a chat felt like nothing — which is exactly why it stuck.

I used Firni alone for a while, then put it on my Instagram story. Friends joined, then their friends — and then people I’d never met started logging their breakfasts. That’s when I knew it wasn’t just mine anymore.

— Utsav, who still logs his own dinner every night

No streaks. No “missed” meals. No red numbers when life happens. Firni counts your food so you can get on with eating it.
